An exciting new partnership will strengthen the exchange of knowledge and innovation in genetic and genomic medicine; As of 1 January 2025, the Journal of Medical Genetics (JMG) has become the official journal of the British Society for Genetic Medicine (BSGM). This collaboration will enhance the dissemination of clinical advancements and research to a broad international audience.
Dr Eva Karampetsou, Chair of the BSGM Communications and Engagement Committee reported the establishment of this link "I am very pleased to announce the affiliation of the BSGM with the eminent Journal of Medical Genetics (JMG) as it marks a pivotal step forward in advancing collaboration and the dissemination of knowledge across our field. This affiliation stems from our shared commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of genetic and genomic medicine and will amplify the reach of our important work.”
Dr Huw Dorkins, Editor in Chief of the Journal of Medical Genetics said "I am delighted that JMG has been selected as the official journal of BSGM. JMG is emphatically an international journal, but we welcome the opportunity to work more closely with British colleagues in publishing clinical guidelines, position statements and meeting abstracts. We anticipate that these will be of interest to a wider international audience."
BSGM (originally founded in 1996 as the British Society for Human Genetics) provides a forum for professionals involved in genetics and genomics as a clinical service and research. As an umbrella organisation, BSGM’s membership includes a wide spectrum of clinical, laboratory and research disciplines, not only in specialist genetic services but throughout the health professions.
JMG is published by the BMJ Group. It is a leading international peer-reviewed journal covering original research in human genetics, including reviews of and opinion on the latest developments. JMG has recently celebrated its 60th year of publication, and is currently publishing Six at sixty, a series of commentaries on some of its most highly cited articles.
